Health and Safety Essentials

The Health and Safety Essentials course aims to equip employees and volunteers with a basic understanding of how they can protect themselves and others from harm in the workplace.

 

Suitable for:

This course is suitable for people that want to refresh or have an introduction to key health and safety requirements. The course would also be suitable for volunteers who run services/activities. 

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the training you will:

  • Be aware of the basic health and safety considerations of an organisation including:
    • Infection control
    • Manual handling
    • Fire risk assessment
    • Fire Safety awareness
    • COSHH Regulations
    • Health and safety signage
    • Display screen equipment regulations
  • Explain the key duties for employees of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Be clear of the purpose of a risk assessment
  • Be aware of the 5 steps to a risk assessment
  • Have an understanding of RIDDOR - Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013

BVSC Members  £10

Non-members     £25

The half day course does not include lunch however teas and coffees will be provided.
