I Want to Volunteer

Want to volunteer?

Through volunteering you can:

  • Learn new skills
  • Have fun
  • Meet new people
  • Reuse old skills
  • Make a difference in your local area
  • Gain valuable experience

You can help organisations such as medical charities, conservation groups, libraries, family support organisations, heritage sites, disability support groups, animal charities and more. Your time can make a huge impact on their work.

Getting involved as a volunteer couldn't be easier. Volunteer Centre Bexley holds a database of volunteer roles in a large range of organisations across the borough, and there are a number of different ways you can find out what's on offer:

Search online for volunteer roles
You can see what’s on offer through our online database of voluntary work across Bexley. It will allow you to search for opportunities based on the type of role or organisation, location and time you have available.

Arrange a face-to-face appointment with our volunteering advisor

If you’re not sure what you’d like to do, or would prefer to speak to someone face-to-face, you can contact us to arrange to speak to one of our volunteer advisors  at the Signposting Appointment Service sessions which are held at Central Library, Bexleyheath on Wednesday mornings from 10:15 am to 11:45 am.
Please note that the Signposting Appointment Service will only run if appointments have been made. Booking is essential.

The appointment will last approximately 15 minutes. During the appointment you will meet with our volunteer centre advisor Jennie Branch and discuss your volunteering options. To register your interest or to book an appointment please visit this page

Arrange a telephone appointment

We also offer telephone appointments where you can discuss your volunteering needs and find out more about what opportunities are currently available. Please call 01322 524682 to find out more.

Extra help for people with mental health problems or a learning disability

Volunteer Centre Bexley can provide additional support into volunteering roles for people with mental health problems or learning difficulties through our Volunteer Support Project. We will talk through your needs with you, and match you with a role within a local organisation.
