Diversifying Volunteering - new roles and new volunteers

Registration is closed for this event
This training course looks at diversity in volunteering

Suitable for:

Volunteer managers and anyone who recruits and/or supports volunteers

Content:

This training course looks at diversity in volunteering, both in terms of who volunteers, and what kind of volunteering they do. Many people can be unwittingly excluded from volunteering, and organisations need to be aware of what they can do to involve a larger number of volunteers. One area that offers great opportunities to broaden our involvement of volunteers is through new forms of volunteering such as family volunteering, microvolunteering and virtual volunteering.

The training will cover:

  • What the barriers to volunteering can  be, and how to remove them
  • Inclusive recruitment practice
  • New forms of volunteering and their pros and cons:
    • One-off and family volunteering
    • Virtual/online volunteering
    • Microvolunteering

Attendees will also be entitled to hands on support following the training to help implement learning, write new role descriptions, improve diversity or try out new forms of volunteering.

Delivery method:

This training course will utilise interactive group work, short presentations and real examples of new forms of volunteering to ensure that information delivery is both practical and engaging.

Learning outcomes:

Participants will understand the potential barriers to volunteering and what steps can be taken to remove them. They will also gain knowledge of new forms of volunteer involvement.

These outcomes are supportive of indicators 3 and 4 of the Investing in Volunteers quality mark.
